Astrology is considered a "soft science" in which knowledge of the positions of celestial bodies is held useful in understanding, interpreting and organizing knowledge about reality and human existence on earth. All are based on the relative positions and movements of various real and construed celestial bodies, chiefly the Sun, Moon, planets, and lunar nodes as seen at the time and place of the birth or other event being studied.
Some believe that the core principles of astrology are loosely based upon the ancient Hermetic maxim. While some others believe that astrology (stars, signs, planets and all the rest) is simply reflection of life. Like a mirror in the sky that shows us our lives in an organized heaven. So the long term effects of the light and energy that comes from the different planets and stars around earth, are studied. Others believe that astrology is another of God's tools to assist is in understanding life and everything around us. Most of the astrologers believe in birth charts. A birth chart is a "picture" of where were all the planets, sun and constellations.
Many of those who practice astrology believe that the positions of certain celestial bodies either influence, or correlate with but do not influence, people's personality traits, important events in their lives, and even physical characteristics. Other astrologers believe that astrology is basically energy in our solar system affects us in the same way that solar rays affect life.
Although astrologers put astrology on sound scientific principles yet for many more it is a technology and an art that merges calculations with intuitive perceptions. Thus for many astrologers the professed relationship between the celestial bodies and events on earth need not be causal, nor even scientific.
